The engine is 75 225 out of my truck. I'm going to do a mild port and polish myself with some bigger valves and springs , shave the deck .100th. Bore the block .60 over and balance everything. I have a two piece header. A super six intake and carb and I'm going to use something like a erson 270 cam.

This will go in a 71 valiant 904 auto. This is just going to be a drag car only for fun. I'm thinking manual valve body 2500-3000 stall converter and 410 gears. I'm shooting for around a 15 second car. I will strip as much weight as I can without ruining the look of the car.

In addition to Shaving your head .100" also Shave the Block .100" it will give you more compression - This step is needed only if you plant to use stock type pistions as they will sit -.180" in the hole on a stock deck engine.

I you are using custom pistons disregard that comment.

I have .110" off the head and .100" off the block -

You will need to check your valve to piston clearance - I ran .528 Lift and 284* duration ad didn't need valve reliefs until I went to 1.6 Rockers wich gave me .562 Lift with same duration.

I am not sure of your cam' Lift and duration specs, but you'll need to check it out anyway.

I believe you should have a strong bottom end as The Truck Motors had their cranks Shot peened and cold straightined - The motor was painted yellow when it came out of the truck?

Maybe They started to paint the truck engines blue after a while,??

They were yellow in the Sixties - I have a 64 Block from a truck - it was yellow - Slant Six Dan can help to straighten this one out.

So either they changed the color of the truck engines at some point or the engine was swapped at one point.

If this is really a mostly (or only?) drag car, then you need a bigger cam and higher stall. I would go for at least the Erson 280 cam and 3000-3400 stall.
