I guess I got a little carried away on my first post, just excited about getting another Dart after so many years....
My real concern is what will the modifications this guy made do to the reliability of a /6? I've heard from years ago that a carb over 390 cfm like the Carter AFB is too much for a 225. Also, how loud would a /6 be with headers, and dual Flowmasters? He said it sounds almost like a 318 at idle, but has a real unique sound at cruising speed. (read loud?)
But the big question is, if all the work was done properly, will all these modifications shorten the life of the engine, or cause any problems that stock parts wouldn't have?
Here's what he's done:
Clifford 4bbl intake & headers
Edelbrock 500 performer carb
Electronic ignition
All parts in the electrical system are new
Accel coil & wires
He also has a "competition cam" that goes with the car, is it worth the time/effort to tear into the engine to install this & what are the advantages?
Also, what are the advantages of an aluminium master cylinder, and what is a "Zippy" adapter?
Sorry this got so long again, I appreciate any anwsers you guys might have... This board is the best, there aren't too many places on the Internet that are this active & have such great information on them!
