Somebody is parting out a 75 Duster. I haven't looked at it yet, but he says it has a 4 spd. I would like to put a 4 speed floor shift in my 63 valiant and I've read some posts about how to do this. My question is, was this transmission offered on this car as stock? If so, what parts do I need to grab besides bell housing, shifter, linkage?

I'm also getting the electronic ignition and the two barrel set up 8)

Yup, the overdrive 4-speed (A833OD) was offered in the A-bodies with 225 engine in '75 and '76. Get everything. Bellhousing, transmission, driveshaft, floor hump if you can cut it out of the car, shifter/linkage.

Slant Six Dan is right . Get a big chunk of the trans hump if you can. Makes for a much cleaner look when you're done.
On my older Valiant there was a little bending to fit required (77 Aspen donor car) but it was worth it.
It's a great swap. I didn't change my rear gears, and the motor just glides on the freeway now. Of course you could take advantage of the overdrive and put some very high ratio gears back there, and maintain your current top speed.
It's not a hard swap. Go for it.

He sold it before I got there. The intake and electronic ignition were gone too :x

If anybody knows where I can get a electronic distributor, or the super six intake and Carter carb, I would appreciate it. I think I can wait on the 4 speed for a while. I see the distributor on Ebay for around $60 plus shipping, but by the time I get all the other parts needed for the HEI conversion from RockAuto, I'll be into it $250.

Thanks

I believe there's a 2-bbl manifold on Ebay now.

There is an A833 4 speed posted on ebay right now, just saw it. There isn't a shifter, linkage, etc. I picked up a bellhousing at Turner's Auto Wrecking in Fresno CA, they will ship to you. Then pick up linkage, clutch fork, etc. from Brewers.
Good luck,

Pick up a Pertronix ingition for about $100. Hooks up with 2 wires and you're done! I have them on several slants. It's a lot quicker upgrade than the '72 and later Chrysler setup.

I have the Pertronix, but I was thinking I may need a new distributor. However, Joshua helped me diagnose it as a possible Carb issue. Thanks for the help!
