I did a search, but after the first 5 or 6 pages didn't really find what I was looking for.

I'm just interested in thoughts on the pros/cons on the different exhaust setups. We're currently collected into a 3" straight pipe running directly from the stock exhaust manifold. Just looking to free up a little hidden power in our little roadster. :)

Headers??

Dutra Duals??

6 Straight Pipes??

This is a higly loaded question. Can you post a rundown of your engine build and trans/rear situation again?

I see you ran 15.40 on the dragstrip?

I figured there would be lot's of answers for this one.

Our current engine build is a 225 bored .060". Cam is a comp cam (264S) and the head and valve train has been worked on to match the cam specs. Transmission is a stock 3 speed torqueflite. Don't know what model off the top of my head. Rear axle gear is 3:73 BUT, we're running classic coker 31" tall tires to fit the hot rod "look".

We've looked into the headers but we would have to move our steering box location or mod the heads to work around that? Dutra duals would fit our application I believe, but I was just fishing for opinions on the different setups. I've always read that one of the most helpful performance things for a slant is to help that exhaust escape more efficiently.

Dutra duals would be an excellent choice. For that build, run 2X2" pipes down to a flowmaster or similar Y-pipe, where the junction is near the front face of the trans pan. 2.5" single exh out the back with a super turbo muffler or similar. If you really want duals, then run 2X2" with an X or H pipe near where the Y would go.

With that buildup, you will not see substantial, if any, gains from headers over the dutras.

Lou
