Okay, picked up my 75 225 Swinger on 8/28. Previous slant was a 225 in a 70 dart custom. Only thing I ever did to that was basic tune-up stuff.

Here is where I am and want to go:

As stated have the 225 with a 904. I want to have an aggressive daily driver that is equally at home in the city or on the highway, and maintain the relatively same mileage (willing to forgo 3 mpg).

What I have/thought already-- I have a complete super six setup to install, and working on an 833 od tranny. Figured dutra duals with 2" all the way back.

The engine only has 46xxx original miles, but has been sitting, and could probably stand to have all the seals replaced as is.

I have never built an engine, but am mechanically inclined, and can follow directions really well, and am willing to learn However when it comes to machining, cams, things of that nature I will need specifics and suggestions on where to turn to have machining done right (what to ask for) and a good idea on the bits I can do myself.

This is not going to be a racer, but it is a CA model which from my reckoning means it puts out even less than the 105bhp I have found listed for this trim 225. At this point I am sure the super six in and of itself would pep it up, but don't we all want more?

Budget is roughly $1000 (give or take $300). Already have super six, and budget for tranny swap is not included in that price.

If this is too vague I apologize. Tell me what else to include and I will try my best. I truly want to learn, and have been searching for a good dart for about 1 1/2 years to have as my dd/hobby car. I know it sounds like opposing types of vehicles, but I believe moderation is one of my strong suits and I will be happy with the improved performance I can gain as well as the possible loss in a little mileage.

Start with a factory service manual, and a digital camera. Take snaps all thoughout the dissasembly. A quick search will turn up all kinds of good info, some keywords to try: Erson cam, milling + compression, distributor recurve, and so on. You'll also want to check out the articles available at the home page, in particular there's one on installing and tuning a super six setup, also there's a good one on sealing the oil pan and timing cover.......sounds like you'll be doin' both. Thanks for the start... have already read the articles mentioned several times now, and hopefully my FSM will be arriving today or tomorrow.

Any other suggestions on keywords to search?

Any "recipes" for me to accomplish what I am looking for?
