Can you clarify the problem a bit? I'm not sure I understand it. Does reverse work? Does it shift into 1, 2 & D?

I believe the term is that i slammed the tranny. It doesn't 'upshift' from 1st to 2nd so i don't know about 3rd. 1st and reverse, however are fine. I found an extensive article by Tom Hand/allpar re the torqueflite tranny both 727 and 904. think i found the link while browsing this site. So i believe it's possible that i broke the kickdown band. anyway i took off the pan and sure enough there was matter abounding so i had sandy towed to a tranny shop. she'll be undergoing a physical on monday morning and i will update. for now i'm stuck with an extra rear axle 71/4 that needs a new home 8) thanks for the reply!!!

Consulting my hydraulic circuit drawings, it appears that the kickdown band is not being applied.

Well, well, well according to Dr Jack @ Wholesale Transmissions in Berkeley, I have a wiped out, unrebuildable case my Sprague assembly blew up due to the kickdown band snapping and sending pieces flying, which means my torque converter is full of metal. So Sandy should be rolling in a couple of days!!!
