Check this out: a '50 Dodge powered by a six-pack Aussie Hemi 6. Cool.

Go to: http://www.inliners.org/

then click on "racing" button on left of page

then click on hemi 6 image "Brian Cannell's hemi 6"

Fun stuff.

just thought id clear up some facts from that story on the Hemi 6..

ok for starters.. i know im getting nitpicky.. but its a CHRYSLER Hemi 6.. not dodge.

in its highest tuned (street, not race) from the factory was 302hp@5600RPM, and 237LB/FT@4100RPM DIN.

the stock carburetion for this engine was 3x 45mm DCOE webbers, not 48 IDF's.

they did NOT have electronic ignition, as this was only released in australia in 1973.

the engine was put on the market in 1972, not 1970.

i may be wrong on this one, but he must have some pretty good tricks to get 430HP out of a 265 hemi with 500 holley.. to date i have found one person that has a 265 Hemi capable of 430Hp and can back it up with dyno sheets.. and this car is running triple 50 DCOE webbers, and an alloy head which is a new aftermarket addition to the Hemi!

just thought id clear this up, theres a lot of myths running about on the aussie hemi's at the moment, and i hate people getting the wrong idea

but it should be pointed out that this was the stock carburetion for only the e-38 and e-49 r/t chargers. far and away the majority of hemis (215s 245s 265s) were fitted with carter email 1bbl or carter bbd 2 barrel carbs.

not looking at a specific article, but this would still mean the vast majority were fitted with HEI

vgs were fitted with hemis - they were 1970 models - afaik 245s though. unless of course the article refers to th e38 or e49 spec motor only - which represents what - 600 models tops? (I don't have production figures for these two models ahndy - but I know it wasn't many) compared to the thousands of regular version hemis.

talk to some speedway racers - this is the type of racing (ironically) where I have seen the better producing hemis and also locally produced holden 6s. I have heard (and seen to a smaller degree) a few producing 400+ bhp with relative ease - but with webers or efi - not with a 500 holley - I would be a little skeptical of that figure with a relatively restrictive holley. i have heard of a few getting this sort of power with ease turbocharged.(which is not suprising - in fact getting less than this turbocharged would be a cause for concern)

And I thought I'd clear up some facts from the clear-up.

The Hemi-6 in its first form, the 245, hit the Australian market in the 1970 VG-model Valiant.
