How do I convert my 63 Dart GT w/drums to disc brakes? Also how can I change the bolt pattern from 4 to 4.5?

To do your pre 73 car you can either get an aftermarket kit for the conversion- there are lots- or you can switch to the kelsey hayes small bolt pattern '72 and earlier style discs. These might be hard to find or hard to find parts to rebuild, I don't know.

For big bolt pattern you can swap to '73 and up style A-body discs. If you swap out the upper control arms for 73 and up style the arms will drop right in. They have the bigger ball joint that you need to hook up the late style spindle that is already big bolt pattern. You will also need a late lower ball joint, which will bolt right up to your early lower control arm. Don't forget to use a master cylinder that is meant for discs- it will be a dual pot style with extra juice to account for the displacement of the caliper pistons when the pads wear. Also a proportioning valve so that you don't lock up your rear before the front squeezes hard.

if you search this topic on this board you will find lots.

good luck

You might find my A-Body brakes page useful:
