 Post subject: 3 speed overdrive tranny

My car is pitiful on take off. Was thinking of putting a little taller gear with a 3 speed overdrive tranny. Are there any years that may be better than others. Sorry guys.....converted Ford man! Still learning the Mopar ropes.

What do you have?
If you have a 1975-1987 3spd+OD tranny you have a pretty granny 1st (3.09:1) and they are all the same from 1975-1987.

You might want to change the fluids, and if she's *realllly* sluggish you might check your clutch disc....
otherwise, more power wouldn't hurt...time to find that super six.

if you have the O.D you already have the stump pullin 3.09 first gear...the bogs usually the wide spread from first to second......i'd have to agree the motors not up to snuff.
