I recently walked to my car in the morning and was disturbed to find my hood partially unlatched. Nothing was missing, or disturbed that I could see, but I realized having a hood lock would be a very good thing, since anyone can pop my hood if they know my car or put at least a little effort into it.

Did 74 swingers have an inside hood release/lock as an option?

Inside hood release was indeed an option on the A-bodies beginning in '72. It shouldn't be too hard to use wrecking yard parts (from just about anything) to rig up either an inside release, or a cable-operated, drawbolt-type lock (cable pushed in, pushes metal bar through holes in movable and fixed components of hood latch mechanism, preventing operation. Cable pulled out, pulls bar out of holes in mechanism, enabling operation).

Or if you want to go quick 'n' dirty, you can use a loop of chain and a padlock!

thanks Dan. I'll have to look for that, along with a few other things.

JCWhitney still sells (the last time I looked) a remote hood lock kit; the one I got includes a starter kill switch. I've used their simple chain & lock kit, but I've heard of villians just bending the hood up to steal the battery despite the chain.
