I have a '74 Dart with power steering, Can it be easily converted to manual steering and do I have to change the steering box?

You're going to spend in one of two ways:

1) You get a 1973/1974 Manual steering column, and a manual steering box(1973-1976- ish)...

2) You get a manual steering box and pay for one of the Power Steering column adaptors (extends the steering shaft), which usually runs about $100-150 (for the adaptor...)

Good luck,

You would indeed need a nonpower steering box (power steering without the power is not the same as nonpower steering). You would also need one of the following things:

•A complete steering column from a nonpower-steering '74-'76 A-body

•The longer nonpower steering shaft from such a column, swapped into your existing column in place of the shorter power steering shaft

•A conversion coupler such as this one installed between your present unmodified steering column and the nonpower steering gearbox.

The nonpower steering gearbox can come from a '73-up A- or B-body or any year E- or F-body.

He'll have to swap the electrical connections as the 1976 column has a different wiring schema/connectors than the 1974 (believe me I have one of each in the shed and tryed this swap... it was just as easy since he has to pull the column apart to swap the shaft into his column anyway...)
