Post subject: Guess What I found....

At The junkyard saturday we found a super six,
and about 4 - 5 slant sixes. we Found a custom 100 with an alum. intake. But no carb or anything. would that be a Super six intake? if so does the alum. intake have any performance benefits over the cast iron intake? BTW, Got the intake, exhaust manifold, and a super six breather for 40 bucks. is that pretty Good or a little steep? thanks Mike

Inspect that aluminum intake very carefully. If it's very, very light weight (about 6 ounces) and the weld seam is at the top periphery of each runner (instead of an equal top-half/bottom-half seam appearnce), throw it away, it's a piece of trash and will cause you no end of heartache trying to get it NOT to leak. The only good factory aluminum 2bbl intake is the Mopar Performance item, which is essentially aluminum poured into the cast iron mould. The EB-welded (top seam) items are *JUNK*.

The aluminum intake with a good BBD is a good start to performance upgrades,,,its light and easy to work with,,,,,I took a 4" grinder and tuned up the welding flash,,,checked for any holes,,,,installed it and enjoyed an 8MPH increase in my top speed over the previous iron manifold / BBS combination.

Me too. I was at a yard on Sat. and picked up a Super Six set up. It was in the last Chrys. on the line. Car had just over 100,000 on it and judgeing from the fact that many of the screws were lose in the carb I'd bet the previous owner just limped it to the yard and took 20 bucks for it. The car still had the disk brakes on it too.
