The Pertronix instructions were pretty clear to me at first. Those of you familiar with the Ignitor II system know it comes with two wires attached: a red one, and a black one. The instructions direct me to connect the Ignitor black wire to the negative side of the ignition coil, and the red one to the positive side of the ignition coil. Is it really that simple? I remember when I put a Pertronix system on my 63 Fury 318, I had to splice into one of the wires going to the ballast resistor. On the page following the above instructons were three diagrams labeled as follows: 1. Conventional points system with ballast resistor; 2. Ignitor system without ballast resistor; and 3. Ignitor system with ballast resistor. There is absolutely no mention or description of the three diagrams in the text. The only difference in this replacement as compared to that of the 63 Fury is that I purchased the Pertronic II coil also with this Ignitor. Anybody lend me some advice on this? Thank you. |

Here I sit red-faced. The instructions I was using came from the Pertronix website. They appear to be dated 12/01. The instructions coming with the Ignitor II kit were dated 05/01 AND they include some additional instructions. I will muddle through this and get it working without additional assistance. Again...I sit red faced. |

I have a pertronix II on my car - no problems. - All I did was wire up the red and black wires to the coil as per the instructions - The Coil still has to have the + and - Wires connected to it from the vehicle's wiring harness. I also Jumpered out the Ballast Resistor as per the instructions - Just unplug it and run a wire between the 2 terminals or 4 termainals if You have a 4 pin resistor. It should fire up and work - I have run mine like this for 2 years on the track and the street. Best of luck - Greg |

Instructions accompanying the Ignitor II aren't really the best. Example, they tell me that while installing the magnet sleeve and rotor in the distributor, DO NOT REMOVE THE GREEN TAPE FROM THE MAGNET SLEEVE. I can't imagine that the tape is left on forever, but there aren't any instructions telling me to remove it later. What gives?[/b] |

And the answer is: you leave the green tape on. |

I think the Green tape holds the magents or triggers in place - Take it off and do go.' Greg |

Finished up the install awhile ago and I am happy to report the engine now responds quickly to throttle speed changes. Additionally, I can't believe how smoothly it runs. Thanks to all who posted on this. |

Check ebay. Should also be able to get free shipping.......... If it's an ebay store, the slant 6 may not be listed, so once you find one for a mopar, call them up and see if they have one for the slant 6. And ask for the same deal ($ and free shipping) |
