The results are in...I averaged 23.6 MPG for calendar year 2007. It's a 15-mile commute to work through 28 traffic lights at 45 MPH max, and a 20-mile trip home on the freeway at 55 MPH.

The car is a '64 Valiant, pure stock except for a Pertronix unit and larger exhaust [plus my ultra-secret proprietary air filter housing modification). Three-speed 225 with 3.55 axle and Carter BBS carburetor.

Not too shabby for a 43 year-old technology...

Phoenix, Arizona, which is a contributory factor to good MPG.

8* BTDC. I usually pull 20" to 21" of vacuum at the manifold.

183,000 miles with the original OEM clutch, too!

Good indeed! You should feel proud of your ride. You might try the NGK plugs with the extended tip. Maybe you can squeeze a bit more out of her. I think the number is ZFR5N.

Great work. There are not too many new cars on the road with that kind of real world average, alas. The stick really helps out, as I discovered.
