i have a s/6 engine and trans (833od long tail) from my 83 dodge ram
truck.i also have a 833od short tail from a 80 aspen .my problem is
that the short tail trans will not bolt up seems the input shat is too long.
also looks like someone cut the imput on the long tail .also no provisions for pilot bearing onn truck s/6

The two transmissions were born with the same length input shaft. If your engine's crankshaft was not drilled for a pilot bushing you've found your problem. You can cut down the input shaft and use a late model roller pilot bearing if you must mate this engine and transmission.
