The spare block I have stuck in the corner of the garage reads: 2202857 11 on the side. The block is upside down on a pallet and far too heavy at my age to wrestle around. Noted it has 3 freeze plugs! What have I got there?

As an aside, how much does a bare block weigh?

Look in the articles section on the first page of this website to find the year range for that block number. Doc put a nice matrix together for heads, blocks, cranks, etc....It is pre 72 or so. The newer ones are all 5 freeze plug.
