Just a thought as I don't have the parts in front of me so this might be a bit off the cuff; What about a rubber seal from, say a Mason jar? Seems it might be close; I mean the regular size not the "wide mouth" jars.
I have seen those gaskets that you are talking about somewhere online. Have any radiator shops around that sevice gas tanks? They may have something laying around, or be able to get?

I went to our local Mopar dealer to get the round circular gasket for the sender, but to my surprise
I had gotten a couple of the part number than Dan had mention 'may' work... they were about 1/2" in diameter too big... most good parts stores have a selection of round gaskets in the back, if you bring in the old one, they may take you into the back and see if they can match it up... the real limiter is the sending unit gasket has a 'square edge' not the 'round' typical style (like the distributor donut gasket)...

Good Luck,

Thanks guys!
After a little research, it turns out that the OEM gaskets were simple rubber! So I guess the stuff I was looking at should work fine!
Thanks again.

No, they were not "simple rubber"! Pay attention; you are about to potentially make a very dangerous mistake.

"Rubber" is used to refer to literally thousands of different materials. You can make your own gasket if you cannot find the kind you need (I bought my last flat round "rubber" gaskets from a local gasket supply house — check your yellow pages — there is also www.smallparts.com ). Whether you buy prefab or make your own, you must use a suitable material that is compatible with gasoline and alcohol and solvents. Just any ol' rubber is not OK. A mason jar seal or a chunk of old inner tube is not OK. Some materials that would work are Viton and Buna-N.
