Dart270, I have been wondering about that for A long time, even posted an a500-slant six question on here a year or so ago. I really need an overdrive. Anybody know where a guy could pick something like that up? Advanced adaptors didn't list anything, and i have only seen old hemi adaptors at any swap meet i've been to. Is it something that could be hand fab'd?

Gasman,

As far as I know, junkyards or swapmeets would be the only place to pick up the A-trans/Sl6 adapter plate. A very knowledgable machine shop could make you one from scratch, but I'm guessing it would be in the $500-1000 range. There are a couple of places in the Mopar mags that do adapters for BB to SB trans, and they could probably make you one. Look for JVX transmissions, JW transmissions, Hensley racing...

At some point, probably in the next year, I will be pulling the trans back out of my '68 Dart to improve the upper X-member, and up the stall speed on my converter. Whenever that happens, I'd be willing to take the plate to a shop and have them duplicate it for you. I imagine that would be maybe $3-500. Actually, I've been stomping on the car over the last 2 weeks and seen no evidence of stress on the X-member, so it looks like it's fine for a while.

If you wouldn't mind a manual, the T5 swap looks easier to do. I hope to get that one in my '64 Dart in the next year or two.

Hope this helps,

Lou
