i gotta comment on this, ha. i think my manual choke works too well... i can just about block the air entirly and kill the engine...

I have the stock choke adjusted just right per the FSM. After all these years it works perfectly. It cranks right up with full choke, pops back to the FSM setting once it starts, kick it down to a medium high idle put it in gear and go.

If I had an after market carb like a 2300 or 4160 series Holley or a Edelbrock AFB or AVS I would go with an electric choke. They can be dialed in and work perfectly. I have them on my other cars.
