Hi guys thanks for all the help on the windage tray I enquired about previously, I will be ordering at least one, with some other OZ owners expressing interest via email asking me to pass on details. My questions this time! I use my Valiant as a daily driver and I need advise on a good street combination. The Val has a 3.23 rear end, it also runs a 904 with stage II shift, headers and a 2& 1/4" exhaust. Now I would like to retain the Carter 2bbl but I am unsure how much cam the carb can handle and how much compression to build into the rebuild. I am not looking for a catalog racer, but a little extra go is never a bad thing?

Hey Steve,

With the Carter 2 bbl, you should stay with about a 225 deg @ 0.050" lift, (usually 0.460" lift) cam or smaller, and around 9-9.5:1 comp will run fine with pump gas. Any more cam and you'll be running out of carb and torque converter. Bigger cam will require a high-stall converter. Mill about 0.060"-0.090" off your head (or block) for the comp increase. Actually, what octane do you guys have in Oz? Or, what do you like to run in your daily driver?

Have fun,

Lou
