Has anyone used Eastwood's door alignment tool when reinstalling your doors? I'm going to be pulling mine off this summer to replace the lower hinges with greasable ones and hopefully repair and restore them as best I can, and these things are HEAVY! I'd really like to make reinstallation as easy on myself as I can...

This tool isn’t for installing the door. It’s for bending the hinges and door for small adjustments. I guess it could work with the hinges loosened but you’d have no way to re-tighten the hinges without opening the door and losing your alignment. For major adjustments or hinge R&R you have to have the door open so you can get at the bolts.

A floor jack works great for replacing hinges. Open the door and take the weight off of the outer most end with a padded jack. Then replace one hinge at a time. An assistant to control side-ways flip-flop while the top hinge is off is sometimes helpful.

You can adjust them the same way without even using the jack. Open the door and loosen only the side of the hinge that needs to move - one at a time. Move the hinge/door a little, tighten up a couple of bolts and close the door to see how you did.
