Check this out - seems like a trick idea as long as it holds up.

This system is still installed and working fine with no problems. I haven't even tweaked anything except to tighten one of the fittings that leaked very slightly after a couple of years.

I saw this a year ago, and I thought it was clever. I am not familiar with all the different safety bodies and track associations. Would this pass tech muster at most events?

We used those at home, I made a system with one that filters rough and one fine. There really good at that, and probably a great idea for this also. Why not just spend it back to the tank though?

Yeah I saw that 3 year part. I just can't help but say if its that good why don't we see more of them.

runvs: are you asking why not just send the fuel back to the tank? A surge tank fits between the main tank and the injectors. Its used to avoid trapped air and keep a steady consistent supply of fuel to the injectors. Check the diagram at very bottom of this page.

This is similar to what I currently have on my Dart. It does not include the fuel pump in the tank. That sounds like a good idea. Mine includes a filter. The filter is the surge tank. It is a large truck fuel filter which holds about a quart of fuel. It works fine when running, but I have associated some of my cold start probems with air in the tank. I don;t know for sure if this is a problem. It is just a theory. I have ordered a custom tank with an internal pump. It will have to get a little warmer before I can install the steup however. After everything is up and running with the new tank, I will sell the surge tank set up for pretty cheap if anybody wants it.

On mine the return line goes back to the surge tank, and overflow goes back to the main fuel tank.

Sam - have any pictures of your current setup? And where did you order the custom tank from?

I sent a new tank,(you could use a good old one), to Ricks Hot Rod shop, in El Paso. They install the internal sump and fuel pump, and recess a small section of the top to allow space for the supply and return lines. There is a link in the last thread which I started about gas tanks a couple of weeks ago. I have photos, but don;t have the capability to post them here. I can send you a photo or two via e-mail.
