OK all you compression geniuses, I need your help. How much do I take off my head? I have 60cc combustion chambers, and a piston depth of .166. I want to have about 9:1 compression. I should be able to run regular with that I believe. So help me out, I would like to take the head in tomorrow afternoon to get cut. Thanks in advance for all your help.

If you have a standard 3.400 bore and a .045 thick head gasket, your current compression is 7.71 to 1

Mill .100 and you will have 9.02 to 1, using a .045 head gasket.

I dropped the head off at the machine shop today. When I told him I wanted .10 off the head, he said you mean .050? I said no, .10. so he said he'll have to run it through a bunch of times as his machine does .010 at a time. I guess he's not used to slant 6's. I can get it back tomorrow afternoon, but since I have a meeting after work tomorrow, I'll probably have to pick it up on Friday. Oh well, I still have a bunch of cleaning to do before putting the motor back together.
