I am going to run a disc brake conversion on my 74 valiant and i just picked up some 14" disc brake rims off of an 80s ford at the junkyard. my question is will the 7 1/2" wheel clear the upper a arm. i noticed my 14" wheel thats on the car right now the outer edge of the wheel is the same height as the upper a arm. any help would be appreciated.

You may have to machine down your rotors so the Ford rims can fit over the rotor hub.

Are you sure they are 7 1/2"rims?

where do you measure rim width? the rotors fit. i supported both sides of the inside of the wheel and pressed an old rotor through. the hub was only a few thousandths off from fitting. then i lightly sanded the wheels hub area and they slid in smoothly

Rim width is measured from bead seat to bead seat across the wheel.

How much backspacing do they have? You can fit 7" wide rims but not if they have too much backspacing - or too little. Around 4 1/4" is just about right.
