One piece I'm having trouble locating is a Gearshift Selector Lever. You know, thing thing you hold on to that connects your arm to the transmission. I have the Hurst Competition shifter with the two bolts on the side. It's a 1965 A-822. Hurst was no help. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions?

I think all the hurst units are the same, (at least my 2 Hurst units from 1976 look the same as yours so I think they should interchange.
As for the lever that you grab onto to make this part work, depending on originality you might have to look around at swap meets, otherwise you might just find a late one that'll fit.

good luck,

Mike,

Hurst has an almost limitless selction of shifter handles. Check their catalog at <A HREF="http://www.mrgasket.com/hurst.htm">http ... rst.htm</A> .

When I converted my Barracuda from 3-on-the-tree to a 4spd I used the Hurst shifter mechanism that came with the A833OD from the D100 pick-up and replaced the handle with a generic handle that is about 10" long with a 3" curve back at the top. It is a little close to my leg in rev/1st/2nd but is perfectly usable.

I don't know what the deal is with AOL but this image take a while to download. Be sure you put a 'jpg / jpeg' type file into the image section of the post. (looks like you tried to put an HTML into the image spot) we got it to work, so thanks for posting the pic. (we know this message board software is "fussy" but always try to post pics, it does work, you did well by doing a link and the image, this makes it easy to find & fix the pic if needed)
