I just acquired a slant 6 from a 1985 dodge pick up going to put it in my jeep and replace the 318 that just blew up, I want to use my existing wiring and ecu box and single ballast resistor now can I use the current distributor on the /6 or do I need to change to an older electronic distributor, also plan on upgrading to a better carb instead of the one barrel on the engine. so what are my distributor options that you would recommend?

What year/model jeep? Are you wanting to use the jeep ign module or the jeep ECU (computer)? If a newer jeep with ECU , I don't think that will work. If ign module, maybe.

If the Slant distributor has counter-weights and springs inside of it you should be able to plug and play. If there are no weights and springs inside, it's a Lean Burn distributor and you'll need an older style electronic dizzy.

The two-plug distributor is what's normally found in an '85 engine, but it won't work for what you want to do. If you want a brand-new one that'll drop into the '85 engine and plug right into your Jeep's existing wiring (though you may have to extend some of the wires to reach the slant-6's different distributor location compared to the V8), you could go snag this one. I've bought a few of these off this seller. Despite his far-flung location, his shipping service is fast and reliable, I've found.

Probably, but a new one's better than a "remanufactured" one, any and every day.

(Could I get you to please read & use the eBay link posting guidelines contained in this post? It makes things a lot easier for everyone who wants to read your post/thread. We don't post eBay's ultra-long web links here; it screws up the board formatting for the whole, entire thread. I've gone ahead and edited your link.)
