Does someone have a quick way to check if I have broken a sprague in my tranmission. I was at the track Saturday in the burn out box. After spinning the tires over to wet them I heard a loud pop so I shut everything down and was towed back to the trailer. As he was towing me back real slow you could hear popping on each rotation. Checked all the universals and everything looks ok. What would be the best way to check this before I take it to the tranny shop. Thanks Norm

The sprag has to be visually inspected, you can't tell anything from outside.

I would check the gears in the rear first. I bet you shelled some teeth.

You really should pull the trans and check it too if you broke a rear. A 904 will seldom kill the sprag, but you never know.

well I checked to make sure the flex plate was intact and also disconnected the drive shaft to check the rear and it turns freely with no clanking. Looks like the tranny is toast and will have it replaced hopefully this week. Thanks zilla for the info. Norm
