probably the one you got, unless its a 1945. you dont want to slap a four-barrel on there anyway until youve done up the cylinder head. |

A Holley 1920 Economaster can give great mileage and still provide some good tire spinning pep! ![]() It is super easy to tune and to change the jet. SL6Dan has a few new ones for sale. |

Gents, On jet sizes, anything after a #57 will get the tires spinning with the Econmaster. I have a 8 3/4, 2.76 posi-traction rear end with 14" P235 60R Grand Am's made by Goodyear for Les Schwab. The 1920 Holley Economaster has a dual plunger power valve which dumps allot of fuel when you punch it. If you jet up to a #59 or 60 it is very punchy. Going larger, up to a 62 or 64 makes it alot of fun but mileage drops down accordingly. With a 62 it dropped down to 22 mpg because I was having too much fun! Since I am driving lots of miles, 130 a day minimum, I put the #57 back in so I can get 24 mpg average for combined stop and go and freeway. It is still very peppy and I can bust them loose now and then on dry pavement. Lately I have been concentrating on trying to get better mileage and keeping it under 70 mph. On engines that are fairly new but are sluggish, do the distributor recurve and valve lash. On my cam I set them at .012 and .022 for a little more seat time and torque per Doc's recommendation. On the recurve I am at 32 degrees by 2500 rpm, (initial is at 16 degrees with 16 degrees mechanical). That will help wake up your engine. ![]() For those build new engines for mileage, be sure to advance the cam 4 to 6 degrees. Doc had me do that to help low end torque to pull the taller tires and higher rear end ratio. |

Do you already have the 4 barrel? Which one are you planning on using? A 500 cfm 2 barrel would also work well. |

well i got a super six manifold but i just dont want to put the money into a two bbl if the money is going to be waisted when i get the 4 bbl so i am just trying to spend my money wisely till i get a good job |

I was thinking the same thing after I bought the super six setup. So I bought a 4 barrel manifold to run the two barrel on, either Holley or Barry Grant 500 cfm. That way I can go either way, two or four barrel. Right now I am fine tuning the one barrel just to see what it will do. My friend loves his 4 barrel 600 Holley double pumper on his slant. He put some really big valves in it and bored it .090 over with tall cam. He runs 14.02 in the quarter with a 3 speed tranny and street tires. |

Why not? I am not sure how many streetable race cars out there get good mileage, but I know a few guys have found that their engines are pretty potent and get still get some pretty amazing mileage. |
