Back in 1964 I raced a '64 valiant slant six with a cam and a 4bbl carb. It was a 4-speed and raced in E/MP and no cared about a scattershield. Forward to today and I would like to build the same combination....but, today you need a scattershield for a solid lifter engine.

Has anyone heard of a scattershield made for the SL6?

I could use some help here.
Thanks

Most folks that run a scattershield buy one for a small block and redrill the block saver plate to fit the slant. This requires a 130 tooth flywheel and a low mounted starter. You can make the starter high mount if you rotate the bellhousing to move the starter and drill the block saver plate and transmission mounting to suit.

Welcome to the site. Can't help with the scattershield, but you don't live that far from me. If I can help in other ways, give me a shout.

The Easiest way to go with a scattershield is to Get a Slant6 to SB Bellhousing adapter and run the LA Scattershield as mentioned.

I did have a clutch Explode and I run a Tranny Blanket for Some protection.

Key is to get rid of the Cas Iron B&B Pressure plates.. They are a disaster Waiting to Happen.

Here's how I know....

I have never seen them enforce the solid lifter rule on anything. Now it is more by ET and whether you have slicks on the car or not. Unless you'll be running faster than 13:99 do like Greg, put a good clutch/flywheel in and fuhgetaboudit.

I do have a new Lakewood smallblock shield and the appropriate adapter plate laying in my shop. If you want a tracing made of the plate I can do that for you. Mine is aluminum but as has been said, I think there may be enough meat in the SB steel plate to redrill it.
