Replaced the right spindle and upper ball joint on my 63 Valiant.

I was trying to plug the torsion bar back in, but it's not even close to fitting.
The front socket is about 30 degrees off.
The rebound bumper is removed and the adjuster is backed way off so it's very loose.

Here's the problem I found:
The arm from the torsion bar socket - the thing the height adjusting screw presses against - is way too high, and doesn't move when I move the LCA up and down.
It's not loose at all.
The arm is parallel with the ground, while the LCA is hanging like you would expect it.

I can move it downwards with a lever, but it's binding on the rubber bushing somehow and springs back up to 9 o'clock position.

What is happening here and how do I resolve it?

This does explain why it was a little hard to pull the torsion bar...

OK.
I think I need to loosen that big nut so it coveres the threads and whack it back with a big hammer, right?

I think I must have tightened that LCA bushing in the wrong position.

Wait a second. My front is lowered a bit. A little lower than the picture.
If I tightened the LCA bushings while it was lowered, they would be set at a different angle than stock.

So, I guess I need to remember to loosen the LCAs if I want to pull a torsion bar next time.

Yep, you have to undo the k-frame LCA nuts, and loosen the LCA bolts that wind the T-bars up...

keep going, you're doing fine!
