Well I got the vent box out (easier than I expected) and sucked another ton of rat's nest material out from the vent/cowl area (yay), but I also noticed that either the insulation was heavily deteriorated, or the rats were tearing it apart. Inspected the wires behind it, and luckily, still no damage. I want to put new insulation on the back of the kickpanel though. Something that the rats would be less inclined to chew up if there's such a material. What do you guys suggest?

I don't know for sure, but these '67-'69 kickboard insulation panels would probably suit your '74 just fine. Or if you're skittish about using other-year parts, check with REM Automotive. Call 'em up and ask for catalogue sheets applicable to your A-body Mopar.
