How important is it to have a dashpot on my Super Six's Carter BBD now that I've got an A-833 4-speed in place of the old A-904? The FSM empasizes how important it is and it looks like there's a special bracket which supports the dashpot, so I would need to locate a manual trans BBD and rob the bracket, if needed.

My 3-speed '67 Valiant never had a dashpot, but it was a Holley 1920 and is now a Holley 4160. No stalling problems with either arrangement. Chances are if the idle mixture is not set for emissions testing the car will run fine.
