just got the 170 put back together with a new cam, timing set and lifters, and a full gasket set. i got it running and broke in the cam but something is up. it has no low end at all. i put a vacum gague on where the PCV would connect on the carter BBS and i am only getting 14 inches of vacuum at idle 700 rpm. i have the timing set at about 15 BTDC. did i screw something up when installing the manifold?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Is the idle smooth? If so it's probably not a vacuum leak. It's more likely the cam was installed retarded.

I agree with Josh.... my engine with the stretched timing chain was drawing 10" at 700, and it would barely run that low. Advance the cam... problem solved.... at least it was for me!
