Safely home! :D

The last thirty miles for Linda and I were in a driving rain. Stephanie and THOR had another fifty or so miles of miserable weather to motor in.

Official results to be posted. I'm going to get some sleep!

Just got back to Chico and left all the cars in the driveway to unload this morning. We had 15 cars at Medford...I can't thank Richard and CJ enough for putting on the new Woodburn race and bringing along with them several "newbies" who all did extremely well at Medford. They all set up "tent city" in the cool shaded area which was reserved for them early on Friday. BBQ set ups, picknick tables...ice coolers (CJ and Linda had all kind of liquid refreshment on ice for all you enjoy..) a huge turnout of Killer Bee support teams. Thanks guys/ and gals.
Andrew and Jessica had brought along their new Killer Bee Golf Cart and all had usage of it to go to and from the starting line. Huge BBQ with great live music on Saturday. Medford is really taking care of our Killer Bee team. Team racing on Saturday and then again on Sunday the track sponsored Inliner race. There were two "Outsider" Inliners on Sunday that raced with our team. No, neither one of them won on Sunday...
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you who won the Slant Six race on Saturday...Guess I am getting forgetful in my old age...

More later for others...

Jessica and I got home at 3 minutes after 10 last night......unloaded the car, and trailer......will unload everything else after work today.....Great time again!!!
I went out first round on Saturday, stupid me, and then there was Sunday's .006 redlight against Robinator.
It will seem like a long time till the next Redding race.......lets get the pits full of some Killer Bee cars there!!!!

Allen and I made it home at 1:20 AM... my son was smart enough to take this week off so he was snoring as I dragged my sorry butt to work this morning.

The Twiggy engine did well, running 17:30s most of the time. It is still in 'one piece' and running on all six cylinders... after 800+ miles and 10 WOT drag strip passes. I never got up enough 'nerve' to hit this engine with the N2O, even though the bottle was in the car and a "button push" away... I think I should be closer to home when I do that for the first time.

We did have some 'running hot' issues with this new all aluminum engine, on the way home. The climbing temp gauge caused us to stop and flush the radiator out a couple of times. We are finding some flakes of block filler in the radiator that plugs-up the cores and kills high speed water flow.

Over-all, a fun time although Allen and I both "washed-out" of eliminations in the early rounds... I will up-load the photos I took tonight.

Lessee.

Glenn was Runner Up.

My car ran pretty solid in the 17.1 to 17.3 range on the Carter AFB. I was cutting .0xx lights. In the Semi I cut a double Oh seven.

There was a bit of frivolity in the staging lanes before the run. Glenn started it, but I got a couple good quips in myself.

Glenn was watching my launch, and when I was moving at the green, he got twitchy and jumped the gun by a hundredth trying to make up the light.

Hopefully we can get the keeper of the list to post what happened when. I was keeping pretty focused on Saturday!

Sunday before the inliner I went after a soda but got one of those "Monster" drinks instead. That was good for an upset belly. I went out first round in a double break out with Tom in his Maverick. He was less "Too Fast" by two thousandths.
Several double break out rounds followed. Conditions changed quickly with a bit of cloud cover.

Glenn Terry went to the Inliner final against THOR, who dipped into the 18's for the first time with his "Bucket." Glenn took the big prize in the inliner, with THOR taking runner up honors with his break-out.

Aww come on Allan! You must be awake by now!

How 'bout it Wayne! Do you have a report?

CJ

PS: Doug, I'm 90% in for burning man. Looks like a wonderful experience! Will have the answer tomorrow!

:ahem: Friday night was pretty fun too.. even if it did go a little late.
But I figured out I enjoy running at night as much as if not more than during the day.
I'll leave Saturday and Sunday for other people to report on, but for Friday night..

Friday afternoon and evening was the time when people were showing up, setting up camp, greeting old friends and meeting new ones. Also, it was the DOT/street legal drags and test'n'tunes. Many of us decided to run since we were there, including me.
I figured get in a few time trials, maybe run a round or two, then hit the test'n'tune lane until they kicked me off the track.
Long story short (because THOR is much better at stories than I am) I managed to hang in until the final round, losing fair and square to an amazing racer in a diesel truck whose name for the life of me I sadly can't remember. But, while I LOVE slant six racing, it is enjoyable (and instructive!) to run against the variety of vehicles and drivers that show up for the street drags.

I had a blast the whole weekend, but I won't say anything else until the official reports are posted, besides the fact that mosquitoes fed on me a ridiculous amount.

Here's what I remember ...We had 15 cars show up to race on Friday. The tent city had grown due to several newbies who came "in tow" with Richard-The- Sandbagger. Midi had to head back early Saturday so we raced 14 cars on Saturday. Champe Von Oregon must have got something special offered to him as he was cutting better and better lights and knocking off all who dared run against him. Aric and Mike Williams also were advancing and both ended up in the semi-finals which left the Glen Terry from Ole Fart Racing fame against CJ. Glen had earlier red lighted in the far lane so a coin toss was asked for and Jamison put Glen in his favorite previous red lighted lane...Good move CJ...I guess I added fuel to the fire when I told Glen that his lane was not holding and Aric was having a bad time hooking up...The next thing I saw was Glen letting air out of his tires...The CJ "contingency" all smiled with approval...Then as Sherlock would say..."The game is afoot"...CJ again cut a great light and I am sure Glen saw the times and was just a little early...CJ had won his first Killer Bee Final...Beer time awaits..
Celebration in tent city...We really had a good two day weekend of racing and so good to see many new faces who all did good. Thor made it all the way to the finals on Sunday and picked up some good $$ along with a trophy. Many new projects in the works for next year and many new racers come on line to join the Killer Bee Team. We deeply missed Tristan who had not missed a race this year.. Also, needed Paul to be there with B-Body and support trailer.Randy also was missed so hopefully all will make roll call at Redding in October.
PS: My 62' 170 made several passes (about 10) and I actually cut some good lights and took a few racers out...I almost had a perfect light one round. I cut a .492 light....Now is I had only waited another .08 seconds, it would have been perfect .500 light...Starting almond harvest so back on later...Wayne/Aric/David
