I have a 72' plymouth duster, and it has a stock 225. But I would like to add some power. I am not looking for a new rear end or a new transmistion with differnt gearing, because these things are out of my price range. I was thinking about changing my single barrel carb with a 2 barrel or 4 barrel, as well as add a 2.25" exhaust pipe with a glasspack I recently purchased. depending on which carb I buy, does anyone know how much power this will add? Tell me anything else you think I should add.

I was in your shoes a few years ago, I can tell you what I did...take from it anything useful....

I moved to a supersix BBD with a 2.25" exhaust generic turbo muffler, and electronic ignition all in 1 swoop. After adjusting the valves and other basic tune-up (new spark plugs, good cap/rotor, wires) it was a world of difference. The car was no longer slow, moved out of it's own way, decent acceleration, etc.

When I installed my new Holley 350cfm 2300 series I got from Jegs, it was another step-up. The car had a lot more quality power added.

HTH :)

Did you pay someone to install the supersix or did you do it yourself?

hi and welcome to the forum, if you have all the parts & tools a supersix install can be failry easy ( mine took 3 days because we had to make brackets and stuff ) here is a great page with a lot of stuff u might wanna know: http://www.slantsix.org/articles/supersix/article.htm you totally wanna read that.

if you have an automatic transmission your gonna have to also get a super six kick down.if you cannot find a super six kickdown ( they are kinda hard to find ) you can use a lokar kick down cable www.lokar.com the part you want is a KDP-2904HT Polished Hi-Tech Chrysler 904 Kickdown Kit.

you can get your supersix stuff here on this forum from another user if they have one for sale, or a junk yard. but be ready to clean up some nasty rust and rebuild the carbrator you find. ebag is a ok place if you need one now. also craigslist is a good place to look. be sure to inspect the parts you get. looking for cracks in the manifolds. and you might have to, have the manifolds leveled so they mate with the head properly.

i noticed a large leap in proformance with my supersix setup and carter bbd. but also good plugs, plug wires, filters,a carb tune up all help. if your car has EI a coil upgrade is fun but kinda spendy.

also bigger exhaust is a great idea, and i love the glass pak sound on my car. my new exhaust is gonna be even better.

there also a lot of guys that still run a 1bbl and have decent proformance, i run my dart's old holly 1920 1bbl on my truck and it moves pretty quick for a 4200lb hunk of metal. do your research and read a bunch of posts on this forum and really figure out what your looking for in the way of proformance and figure out what you feel like you can spend cause it does get expensive pretty quick.

i hope that helps and good luck to ya.
