150 RWHP? It should. All it needs to do is hook up!

It'll be good to see you Mark! :D

My calculator says 15.1 @ 90 MPH, but I bet 14s are possible.

150 RWHP is exactly what my '68 Dart is making right now, which is good for 16.30s in my 3150 lb car (w/o me).

That will be a good heads-up race with the other "twin"... as long as I keep the bottle turned-off.

You need a bigger cam, or definitely retime it. Sounds like it is very far advanced. Put it in at 102 deg with that compression.

A good cam for 10:1+, which you have, would be a RDP grind, something like a 234@0.050" intake and 226 exhaust. See if Erson will do this for you. Use LSA of 106 and centerline at 100 deg.

You have a high stall converter, right? How much?

You should be making at least 170 RWHP and more like 200 if your headwork/induction is good and you have 10:1+. 150 is what my '68 Dart with stock cam and 8.8:1 comp makes on 89 octane gas.

10.7 compression,3500 8 inch converter,bigger valves,and alot of head work,running 100 octane,will re time it to 102 if its off,dont have time to do cam swap,mark

What induction and headers again? Thanks.

Retiming cam will probably help a lot. Actually, if you aren't going to swap it, then retard it more to 103 - 105 deg. Sounds very much like you are way advanced and the power is rolling over very low because of that.

Other problem could be timing or carb??

My motor at that compression hates 100 octane too. It will kill a tenth or more. I welded the advance slots halfway shut so I can run lots of initial and limit total to 25-30*

You guys are "spot-on"...
We already shortened-up the distributor's advance to stop the major pinging Mark had when the engine first ran.

An yes, the cam is advanced, intalled at 110 intake centerline... with a tight timing chain. We were hoping it was going to retard it's self a bit with use but it looks like that was "wishful thinking" on my part.

110 deg sounds very retarded to me - do you mean 100?

After my recent cam experiences, I wouldn't dream of installing anything at over 104 deg, and 100 seems about right. That engine needs more top end, so I recommended 104 for Mark.

A bit confused...
:?

My bad... the cam is ground on 110 lobe centers, it installed at 101 intake centerline.
The timing gear set in this engine is way off so we had to use an 6 degree off-set bushing, to retard the cam, just to get to 101

Looks like Mark will have to take the bushing out all together and just push the cam's pin up to the "retard side" of the oversize bushing hole, then check to see if that gets him a better reading.
