what kind of muffler would make a slant six sound "mean"? I was thinking of a thrush of some kind and I found a thrush glasspack with single inlet and dual outlet but I don't know what it'd sound like...??? |

I am running the $29.00 Thrush version of the Flow Master 40. Very mellow most of the time until you step on it. Nice growl..... |

I'm not happy with the thrush turbo I have now. I can barely hear it at cruise in the car. It is only loud behind the car. I really liked my cherry bomb turbo muffler. It rumbled at idle, growled at cruise and snarled loud at WOT. |

My Dart used to have a Thrush Magnum Glasspack with a side exit exhaust. That one was loud. It's definitely not the same tone as you'd get with a V8 with glasspacks, however. |

my main issue is money right now so I can't go with actual dual exhaust so I was gonna try the thrush with dual outlets to maybe see if it'd make it sound a little more "dually"... haha |

Go with the Thrush welded muffler (Flow Master 40), it is certainly cheap enough at $29.00 and growls very nicely..... Not to be confused with the Thrush turbo muffler. |

I have a 2"ish manifold pipe running in to a single in dual out generic flowmaster, with dual flexi tailpipes. It sounds good even with a dead smooth idle. Around 2000 to 2500 rpm or so, under hard acceleration it is a bit loud, but otherwise it sounds nice. I highly recommend a 2" manifold pipe as it is hard to get a good sound from a stock 1.75 pipe, the smaller the pipe, the more hondaish it sounds. If you are short on money get Teds style of muffler and a 2 1/4 pipe from manifold to rear bumper. Add tip of choice. You will keep it quiet inside....get best performance ....for the smallest buck.....with the coolest tunes. A single to dual short pipes will cost more and give less. Side exhausts usually get rubbed off around here....... |
