Post subject:  empty rear resevoir

Its been a while since I've been on here. It seems as if my car had to remind me to check in.
Tonight I hopped in the car and found the pedal a lot soft. I popped the hood and found the rear resevoir empty. I filled it and snapped the lid back on and took the baby sister home. The trip is about 7miles round trip and by the time I got back home the pedel felt normal again. This car has the MP disk brake conversion and is manual assist. I looked all around the car for leaks and found none. Checked hoses, steel line and even the backing plates for moister. I havn't pulled the drums to look at the wheel cylinders them selves, as I believe the rear resevoir feeds the front calipars. Any ideas as to where the fuild has gone to?

As the brakes wear it's normal for the reservoir level to drop; the rear chamber feeds the front brakes. Also, fluid can be pumped from the rear reservior into the front if the piston cups are worn.

My guess is that aliens probed your rear reservoir

Found fluid on inside of firewall.
Where are we getting the good master cylinders now?

Post subject:  I got the two bolt one

It is aluminum with plastic res. and you need a four to two bolt adaptor. I got mine off ebay. I just put it on and bled an entirely new system with no problems and good pedal feel. It was also WAY lighter than the iron doorstop I took off. It also came with the rubber retainer for the pushrod.

I think a few different people are selling them.

Good luck and be safe

I'd like to stay with the iron 4 bolt one. Do we have a source for these, that are good?

Bendix catalog shows 11323 as a NEW master for 10 inch drum brake car.
It is 1 inch bore.

Shows R11487 as a REMAN for a disc brake car (1 1/8 bore). Does not show a NEW disc brake MC.

The 11323 is wrong. It has a semetrical resivore patern. I need a large rear resevore. I found out that the master I have is suppost to be a 1-1/8 bore. The pedal feels "OK" but is a little stiff. Anyone see a problem going to a 1" or even a 15/16" bore?
The reman part # doesn't seem to cross at Napa

That is correct, that is for a 10 drum brake car

R11487 is for the disc brake, and is a 1 1/8 bore. Bendix does not list a NEW MC for that application. A number for new, would be 11487, delete the "R".
This info is right from the Bendix CD catalog, which does an online automatic update, whenever it is accesed.

A smaller bore master cyl will require less pedel effort, but have more pedal travel.

Is there really any danger of using to small of a bore and having the pedel reach the floor before the brakes are applied? (providing system has been beld properly)
