Well I have a few problems found a sure grip out of a 8 1/4" '88 dippy. with sway bar, and all the mounts for a F-body Volare. but the 8 1/4 " rear I thought I had in my car is too small WTF ?!! I know its not a 7 1/4" but it has 3in axle tubes that taper to 2.5in vs the true 8 1/4" with 3 in straight axle tubes WTF ?!!

first my goodies, actually taking them all back and getting the complete lebaron housing axle to axle, no brakes. Going to do my jeep rear disc swap on to the rear.

The axle with the tapered tubes and the stop sign shaped cover IS a 7 1/4. It's just a late 7 1/4.

Why didn't you buy the whole axle assembly from the Diplomat? Getting used gears set up right in a different housing is a big crap shoot.

becase the dippy had a nasty hit on the right side, so nasty it bent both axle tubes wayyyyyyy out. but this is a blessing in desguise. I found a '78 LeBaron in the chevy section, along with a '79 Volare premire. The Volare had a dinky 7 1/4", but the LeBaron has a 8 1/4" suregrip rear with a perfect swaybar, checked the diff fluid, it was old and a dark amber, but no silver sludge :D, I am going back today to get the whole rear end, and returning the other parts,

If you can hang onto the iso mount plates and sway bar from that Dip. They don't exactly grow on trees. And I had the same problem with getting a bent 8-1/4 from the yard when I had to replace the rear in my brother in law's (used to be my) 90 Dakota.

well volaredon thanking my lucky stars, some dummy that works the "big" fork lift for moving cars, convieniently put a 2bbl '79 supersix Volare premire right across from a '79 Chrysler Lebaron.....with a 8 1/4 suregrip, swaybar equipped rear, with only rust damage ;) all over the body, hell the trunk was 2 pieces *top and bottom*

But they are holding it for me till I get paid on Friday ;) guess it pays to go to the same yard for 7+ years and know practicaly everyone on a first name basis !!
