I just visited the local U-Pull-It and I think I bought the right parts for the HEI conversion, but I'm not sure. The coil is from an early 90s Blazer V6 and the module is from a late 80's GMC truck with a SBC V8.

Thanks for your help!

Coil looks fine, but you need an ignition module with 4 pins. Try to get one of the real GM ones. They are better than most parts store replacements.

Hi Chuck,

I think you will find the E-core GM coil is a hot and reliable coil. Maybe one of the best buys available from the pick-n-pull.

I guess I'll have to keep looking. I saw no RWD GM cars and no GM trucks with a four pin module. Does anyone have a list of what cars have them and where they're located in the engine bay?

Chuck, your better off buying new from a part store. They are not much money. Time is money, and you will spend a lot of time looking. They are located inside the distributer of the early HEI units. The one from the 80's with the big cap, that has the coil in the cap. I can get a part number, later, when I go out to the shop.

Thanks, Charlie. I think you're right. It took forever just to find a coil that was accessible, and with the poor selection they had at the Gainesville yard, I may never find what I'm looking for.
