Hi guys,

My friend and I were replacing hoses under my hood and we replaced my PVC valve and the hose leading from that to the carb. The old one was really hard and cracked in many places (maybe that explains the rough idle...). Anyways, the new one isn't a true vaccum hose, it's much thiner and more flexable. When the car is running, the hose is collapsed, and there's no way to get pressure back through it. As soon as the car is shut off, the hose returns back to normal. I have felt the hose while the car is running and it feels like there is something going through it but very little because of it being collapsed.

Any ideas??

Later,

Mike

You need to obtain the correct hose for PCV application. Most places will sell you 3/8" ID fuel hose. The hose I get from NAPA is marked (I forget the exact wording) something like "fuel line / emission hose".

Actually the correct PCV hose is 11/32" ID. This is slightly smaller than 3/8. Not everyplace stocks it. Some places have it in bulk rolls and some places have individualy packaged pieces about 2 or 2-1/2 feet long. Ask at your auto parts store.

Thanks Craig!!

My dad has a '73 Challenger and when he moved out, he left me with some junky hoses and stuff... that's just why I asked the question.

Later,

Mike
