I picked up a new exhaust manifold to replace the cracked one on my 62 225. It looks newer and stronger than the old unit. It also has a tube, a little larger than 5/16, sticking through the 3rd cylinder(from the front). What's it for and what do I do with it??
Thanks.
Joe

That almost sounds like a casting mistake but I’m not positive what you
mean. Any chance you can post a picture?

Do you see the same tube in any of these pictures?

Danny

Danny, I think it's your #4 photo that shows the 3rd cylinder with a boss on the top. Mine has a big flat spot with a hole through the top and bottom with a tube going all the way through and sticking out both ends about an inch. It's not the same metal as the manifold. I hope that makes it a little clearer.
I hate it when I know what I'm talking about and no one else does. I didn't even have a beer in my hand.
Also, when I get both manifolds off, I want to go with new bolts. Would they be a hardware store item or a parts store or MoPar?? Grade 8 or what??
Thanks.
Joe

That tube is used for an optional "carb de-icing" set-up, mostly used in cold weather areas.
There is some additional tubing and a special carburetor that is also part of that system.

OK, so what do I do with it?? Not worry about it, I'm using the old girl in the summer so deicing is not a problem.
Thanks.

That's an exhaust manifold used on all 1969 US-market and some 1960-1969 Canadian-market engines equipped with the carburetor anti-ice system (link contains details), and 1967-1975 export engines with the integral-choke 2bbl carburetor. You may safely ignore it if you're not using it.

Another wealth of information. Thanks. I've already got my Remflex gasket but that was the only thing that I had planned ahead on. The guys at NAPA smile and rub their hands together when they see me come through the door.
Thanks again.
