I pulled the dash/gauge panel on my 67 Barracuda, but I don't see the voltage limiter on the back side (like my 73 Dart three prong VL). Is there one? If so, where is it located?

Can this be replaced by a solid state unit? I have my gauge panel apart right now, and the gauges are crimped together. Can the gas gauge be taken apart without ruining it?

Answer is yes, but that's not relevant to your situation; 1965 was the last year the voltage limiter was built into the gauge on A-bodies. If you haven't found it on your '67, it's because it's absent or you haven't spotted it yet. It is the external plug-in type.

This link SSDan posted sounds like a great upgrade to protect the gauges. I'd venture to say this would affect you as A Body rallye dashes (such as you have) have the limiter incorporated with the gas gauge.

Thanks for the link. My fuel gauge has the three bolts coming out as pictured in the link, and there are no slots for a VL to plug into. I may have to try the solid state one. I don't really want to pull the dash again if I don't have to.

I did my 68 cuda 6 years ago.pry apart the gauge, removed the vr with a dremal tool, and put a 7805 regulator mounted to the back of the pot metal dash. Mopar action had an articule on this in aug 2000
