Below are pics of a car I built around 1980.
Car weighed 3060lb and i was abt 135lb back then so with a few clothes a race weight of abt 3200lb.
Best time was 14.0@101 in 1983.

Looks like a sweet ride! Welcome aboard.

Are you building up this car again, or another car?

Cheers,

Lou

Nah,that car is long gone.
I've got a slant/904 VC Vaiant ute (pickup)which I'm currently playing with(among other mopars  )
It's what I refer to as "a return to my mis spent youth  "
It's currently just got extractors and fed by an Edlbrock 500AFB 4bbl.
Soon to be fitted with a Toyota SC14 blower but that's just a quick, easy temporary measure till I build another tough NA slant :D

Hey Greg - recognise your name from Aussie forums :D

It's what we refer to as a 1970 VG Valiant 2door hardtop.
They are essentially just a Dodge Dart with Aussie front sheet metal.
The engine bay was stretched 2" in the Oz cars to accomodate the Oz hemi 6.This VG model was the 1st of the hemi6s.The previous VF 69 model was the last of the slants in Oz.

It was running a Borg Warner 4.0:1 open centre (hence the lack of ET for mph :( ) and a Borg Warner 4speed adapted from a Leyland P76.

Here's a different engine bay pic :)

I love those UTE's! I've only seen a few in person in all the years of going to Mopar Nationals. Looking forward to seeing this one.

The Aussie "ute" has always been around.
Back in the 1920's farmers used to cut the back off coupes and build a "utility" body on them.So was born the "coupe utility" or "ute" for short.
By the 1930s manufacturers were building and marketing coupe utilities and still do so today.
We never had Rancheros and ElCaminos over here other than a few imports.Local utes were based on Ford Falcons,Holdens (GM) and Valiants.
What you call a Pontiac GTO over there is called a Holden Commodore over here and the ute versions are plentiful.Holden also make a twin cab version.
Here's what they look like.I guess you lot would call it a GTO pickup?
