I was wondering how much it would cost to install dual exhaust on my /6. Im aware it would be better if i purchased headers along with, but im not really looking for power, more of sound, plus im only looking to spend bout $500. Im curious as to how much this might cost and if it is even worthwhile to do so without installing headers, intake, carb, etc. thanks

Going to a Y pipe after the outlet of the manifold obviously won't help power unless you put a larger flange pipe on the manifold. If you would like the car to be louder, you can put a louder muffler on there, and even at a shop, you can expect to spend less than $150 to have it done. There are alot of threads that can point you in the direction of a louder muffler, if you so choose. Start Here if you want some intro stuff on loud exhaust.

The search function is a wonderful thing!

If you want more performance along with a uniquely sounding car compared to all the ones around you, going with headers will work, but they are expensive. I went with Dutra Duals personally.

You can use the search function of the board to find out all the information you want about those as well. They are cheaper than headers depending on where you live (cost of shipping), and you are supporting the Slant Six Guru himself (Doug Dutra who is a very nice guy BTW).

to duel out my duster with 2 1/4 and flowmasters was jsut over 300. i found the reciept the other day and only 200 was for the mufflers so the pipe itself is not to expensive since its bought in (i think) 20 ft. lengths. i believe most shops will test fit mufflers for you if a particular sound is what your after
