what are the collective experiences of this board with the difference between the slider and pin type brake calipers??

i have both in the garage, and need to decide which direction to go with my conversion from drums...

any resources abound?

Pin type calipers flex on their mountings. This causes lost motion and a spongy brake pedal. The pin bushings distort under load because the pins are not centered on a line drawn through the caliper piston diameter. Said another way the pins are in the wrong place to support the caliper on the piston center line. Because the pins are offset from the piston the caliper rotates when pressure is applied. The pin type calipers Chrysler used on old RWD cars have been obsolete for some time. Modern single piston calipers slide on rigidly affixed hollow pins that are lubricated and fitted with dust boots.
