Car Model:
Starting a new build on a 82 225 , the bottom end is done , crank polished , new bearings rods and mains , new 30 over stock pistons , my question is how much should I have taken of the head . I aim to use headers , new intake , carb and cam . I read here something about I should be able to use stock push rods up to maybe a .1 taken of head . Cam is a comp piece 254 , aim to use a 350cfm Holley . It will be hooked to a 3 speed with overdrive , it is not an all out racer , aim to drive it .

Before you go shaving the head or the block, you should take the time to measure the volume of each cylinder chamber and measure how far below the top of the block each piston stops at TDC. With these number you can find out your true compression ratio for each cylinder and then determine how much you need to fille any of the combustion chambers and/or deck the head or block to achieve the compression ratio you want.
