I was just daydreaming about different set ups for my new /6 has any one ever made such upgrades as replacing the origional cylinder head to the hemi hed design , or a electric water pump, four barrel carb, MSD ignition, and what ever type of crazy hot cam you want. just throwing ideas out there for people to think about all right guys dont beat me down if it really cant be done. just wondering thanks for responding. steve.

All of this what you toss out has been discussed at great length and/or done. The ones that haven't been done, it's always for good reasons. Please spend a few hours using this board's Search function and reading thru old threads.

Ignition upgrades? Sure, see the HEI upgrade.

Camshafts? Yep, you bet; get on board the Erson Cams group buy.

Exhaust upgrade? Sure, Dutra Duals.

4-barrel carb? Yeah, you can, but you're usually better off with a well-chosen 2-barrel instead. There are numerous ways to do it. A lot has been written about it.

A Hemi head? No, not realistically.

You can spend a great deal of money, time, and effort buying cool trick parts, and the result can still be very disappointing — it's best to start from the start (planning out your project) and move forward, rather than to start from the finish (picking out parts) and move backward (undoing a whole bunch of expense and effort 'cause it didn't work out the way you thought it would).

Planning out your project means listing out in specific detail what you want your vehicle to do and not do, and realistically figuring out how much money and time you have to work with.

But given that you are just starting out at the very beginning of working on your own vehicle, if I'm not mistaken from your other threads, now is really not a good time to be drooling over big lists of upgrades and hop-up parts. Read and re-read. Learn how your truck works and how to fix it before you start trying to reëngineer it.

I think the hemi head idea is a tad bit over-rated. A engine builder I talked to said they preferred wedge heads when running nitrous. I think we have made some serious strides in making performance for the slant six, Erson, K1 rods, Dutras, EngrBldr Valves. I mean the slant is a strong base, and doesn't have Indy or Edelbrock for support, so we actually do better than the 360 guys :D

speaking of hemi heads i was wondering if anyone has heard of using two cut down early hemi heads on the slant, similar to the six cyl chevy hybrid head. i have been told that a guy on the eastern side od wa state in my home town did this back in the 60's but iv only heard stories. just wondering

I would think bore spacing on the early Hemi and a slant are different.

I have to agree with Dan. Tune up what you have first, and then make a plan of what the car is to be used for, like daily driver or race car. From my experience, try not to take on too many projects at one time.
Read and re-read old posts here; all of these things have been discussed, some more than a few times.
Don't be afraid to ask questions, but the more specific your question is, the better. Also, one topic per post please.

While we are daydreaming, how about a 1960 Plymouth Belvedere, 260 stroked slant, fuel injected, turbo, front disc brakes, 8 3/4, A-500 AOD converted to work with the factory push-buttons, A/C, factory record player, black with red interior, slotted mags. If I won the lottery...... 8)
