I just got off the phone with Hussey. The price of their gaskets vary depending on the thickness. A .042 thick gasket would be $60.49 (SCE is $99.95). There is a one time "engineering" charge of $39. They will give us an additional discount on an order of over $500. The order can mix thickness, and bore size. I will try to get a sample out to them today or tomorrow. If anyone is interested, think about what sizes you would want.
There is no additional charge for special bore size. Thicker gaskets are additional price. They can do gaskets from .024 thick to .150 thick.

Is the one time engineering charge per gasket or is the $39 amortized over the entire production run?

Hey Charrlie,

Gary and I are in for a couple at that price. .040-.042 is a good thickness. We like big bores (3.504) :D

Let me know what the final price is or if you need an order, standard thickness and 3.5 is fine. A stint someone talk me about copper head gaskets being useless got me away from them.

Charlie;

That is a very good deal, since we talked in the other thread I have also talked to a few gasket makers. They offered dealer prices, $114-145 depending on thickness. No way are we going to beat your deal by further shopping.

I am in for (2) .125" thick 3.504 bore.

If you are going to also O-ring the block you need to consider the wire thickness and groove size when ordering the gasket. I will post some info on that subject in the other thread.

Thanks Jim

The "engineering" charge is a one time charge, since they do not have the pattern.

RUNVS: there is no "standard" thickness, it can be whatever you wish, between .024 and .150. There are a few .002, 005, and 010 "steps within the available range.

I met these folks at the PRI show.

Chaarlie,

I am in for one, .040, and standard bore or up to Aussie bore. Later, probably take 2.

I'd be in for at least one. Not sure on the thickness yet.

So, what is the advantage of copper vs the Aussie head gasket? Is Copper better than an MLS head gasket?

Inquiring minds want to know....

Thanks,

Greg

If this comes to fruitatiion, it will be a true group buy. The complete order has to ship to one address. I am shipping the sample out tomorrow. Once they tell me they are ready to produce the copper gaskets, I will need comfirmed orders. This will allow me to get exact pricing ( a thicker gasket will cost slightly more then a thinner one, the "engineering" cost will less per unit the more units, The more $ amount of the order, the better discount). I can/will cordinate this if you want. I can/will recieve the order, and ship the gaskets to the buyers, for my cost of the gaskets, plus the actual shipping charges.
