My #6 cyl is dead, bad valve. I have another good head so while I swap it out I was thinking of putting my 2x1 intake with 2 holley 1945's on. I was waiting until I got headers or dutra duals but since I have have to do the head swap anyways I thought I'd put it on. Problem is, I have to have it done and tuned by Thursday evening. Preferably before that. I have been searching threads all night and have gotten some decent info, but I'm still not sure about my kick down linkage. I have a 77 truck and the throttle is a cable and the kickdown a rod. Its the same as the linkage set up on my 77 Volare' parts car. If I'm going to need some Lockar stuff then I'll just keep the project on hold and swap heads, keep my 1bbl and be done w/ it. But if it won't be a problem, I'd like to take a shot at it and do the exhaust another day. Any photo's would be appreciated. Whether I use them now or later. Thanks guys. Dietz |

If your planning on swaping the head, intake, and header or dutras, I recommend renting a car Thursday morning. |

I,ve always had trouble with 1945s I don,t have any experence tuning the 1 bbls, but you need carbs that you can get jets and other tuning parts for. |

Jets for 1945s are readily available; they're perfectly standard Holley jets. Kickdown linkage with the 2x1 for a car other than a '60-'61 Plymouth/Dart or '60-'66 A-body means a total custom job — getting it fabbed up and working, and getting the carbs tuned and synchronised, probably is not going to happen before Thursday. |

Thanks guys, this is what I was wondering. I'm just gonna swap the head for now then, and do the 2x1 when ever I get the dutra's/headers. So anyone know what I'll need, or have pics of this fabricated kickdown? |

As far as I'm aware, there has not been any distillation of "the" way to put together a kickdown for a 2x1 on a cable-throttle car. See this thread for kickdown options to start from. Info on choke hookup and other logistics for 2x1 can be found here. |
